Our Story

Why We Started

AltaTech was founded because too many Triangle businesses were experiencing the same pattern: a vendor that only showed up after something broke, security gaps that no one was watching, and bills that arrived without context after an emergency. Marco A. Castro had spent more than two decades watching businesses across the Raleigh area absorb avoidable damage because their IT support was reactive by design.

The call that shaped how we still work today came from a small professional services firm near North Hills after a ransomware attack locked their case files. The firm did not know who to call first: their attorney, their insurer, or the IT contractor who had not returned a call in two days. By the next morning, AltaTech had isolated the infected machine, restored their files from backup, and put real-time monitoring in place so the same gap could not happen again. That situation was not unusual. It was the normal outcome of reactive IT support with no monitoring and no tested backup plan.

We built AltaTech around the opposite model: catch problems before they interrupt business, build security in rather than bolt it on, charge a flat monthly rate so there are no surprise invoices after an emergency, and assign one named technician per client so every call starts with someone who already knows your environment.
